Perched organically amongst olive groves on a verdant hillside on the idyllic Greek island of Zakynthos, the Olea All Suite Hotel frames the natural beauty of this Ionian gem in all its glory.
From its privileged elevated setting, this modern all-suite hideaway showcases some of Greece’s most enduring features: utterly delicious food executed with flair and finesse, stunning coastal credentials and a truly relaxed approach to life.
The Olea All Suite Hotel is a contemporary, peaceful retreat. It is a design-forward sanctuary that encourages guests to enjoy the comforts of understated luxury in a setting that is brimming with modern sensibility and contemporary chic. It is underscored by pared-back beauty that boasts stylish design aesthetics, elegant modernist structures designed to accentuate its face to the sea, the countryside, and the sunset.
Olea was conceived as a pristine, secluded haven, where the calming power of water plays a key role in the resort layout, whilst fostering a harmonious dialogue with the surrounding nature.
Reached by a bridge that traverses a shallow pond, the resort’s lobby is a double-height, airy space that welcomes guests to its elegant simplicity. At the heart of the resort, like some kind of dazzling oasis, sits a huge, free-form pool that sparkles in the Greek sunlight.
With organic ease, it follows the hillside morphology in a tiered configuration, around which the hotel’s luxe suites and communal facilities unfold. There is a wonderful spa, a trio of stunning restaurants, three bars, sunset terraces, communal lounges and 93 elegantly contemporary suites.
Situated on a scenic, evergreen-covered hilltop near the village of Tsilivi, the Olea All Suite Hotel is a design hotel for international style aficionados in search of the perfect holiday location in the Greek Islands.
A wonderful piece of architecture, daringly modern, yet perfectly in tune with the surrounding landscape
Guided by the island’s landscape and the ever-calming effects of water, the Athens- and Stockholm-based architecture practice Block722architects+ created a sprawling property – a dreamy world where inner peace, tranquillity and effortless, unpretentious luxury are a state of mind.
Architecturally, the Olea All Suite Hotel combines the spatial purity of sleek modernism, exemplified by contemporary cubist structures, with an aesthetic grounded in locality.
Block722architects+ devoted special attention to existing vegetation on the plot, cultivating and protecting the venerable olives that have been gracing the local soil for centuries. They integrated the hotel into the wider terrain without a sense of superficial interference. They referenced the landscape through materials and allowed the outdoor views to take priority of place.
The elegant selection of muted colour tones, natural materials and textures, interwoven with hidden gardens and the ancient olive trees, seductively reflects the surrounding nature while the omnipresence of water elements throughout the resort – in the form of pools, ponds and streams – conjures the Ionian Sea that hovers on the horizon.
Eliminating barriers, boundaries and obstacles between the suites, the public areas and the pools outside, the beautiful design creates a sense of continuity, blurring the lines between interior and exterior spaces.
The soft-hued palette, with varying tones of greys, browns and creams, is prominent in the hotel’s interior design that favours a minimalist sensibility refined by the textural richness of natural materials such as wood (oak, bamboo and rattan) and plaster as well as pockets of lush vegetation.
Olea’s vibe is sybaritic yet organic and entirely modernist. Soft, warm materials characterise the furnishings and interior design elements, contrasting the cool geometric forms, clean lines and immaculate surfaces of the buildings. Grilled bamboo walls and rustic thatched ceilings of woven palm leaves create a tropical Tiki feel. Furniture is mostly oak or rattan, walls are hand-trowelled plaster and the lighting is thoughtfully designed.
Suites saturated with immense style and taste
At the centre of the property is a huge 4,000m² lake-like pool that weaves and winds naturally around Olea’s 93 minimalist suites. The elegantly cubist suites are arranged in one- or two-storey whitewashed blocks, along with gardens and carob tree-shaded lounges.
Boasting a chic lifestyle environment, the open-plan suites are designed to enrich the experiences of the hotel’s guests with luxury, style and elegance.
Olea All Suite Hotel offers a variety of room sizes and styles, from the 36m² Junior Suite to the 105m² Presidential Private Pool Suite. Each is set within a rectilinear space and fronted by expansive windows, seamlessly blending the outdoors and indoors, whilst creating a framework for captivating views.
Each suite features a private sun-filled terrace or balcony graced with wonderful views of the Ionian Sea, the resort’s impressive pool or the lavish green gardens. The larger suites also offer shared or private pools.
Indoor-outdoor flow was paramount in the design. Guests who book the ground-level suites may swim right up to their private platform decks set with simple outdoor beds for two. Second-floor accommodations have square-framed terraces or balconies with frameless glass balustrades offering views over the rolling hills to the Ionian Sea.
The interiors are decorated in an understated, muted palette of materials, tones and textiles, lending a calmness to the polished ambience. A pared-down yet overwhelmingly beautiful blend of pale timber, smooth stone and green vegetation envelop guests in peace and solitude.
The Presidential Private Pool Suite is the hotel’s top-of-the-line accommodation, featuring an ultra-stylish indoor area of 105m², a terrace of 25m² with sweeping views and a spacious 37m² private infinity pool.
A gorgeous oasis of peace, beauty and relaxation, the Presidential Suite offers luxurious comfort paired with brilliant sunset and sea views. Inspired by its breathtaking surroundings, notable highlights include an expansive terrace, private pool and Jacuzzi. Guests may enjoy a complimentary breakfast.
All suites are fitted with modern comforts such as individually controlled air conditioning, blackout curtain and Zealots bath products. Some of the top suites have a Nespresso machine.

Gourmet offerings are rounded up at the Greek-flavoured Cocoon RestoBar, a perfect prelude to nightcaps at O Bar, which offers a fabulous selection of national and international wines, or F Bar with its choice of local wine labels and signature cocktails.
Flow Dine & Wine is the gastronomy restaurant and boasts amazing views of the surrounding evergreen hills, including a truly unmissable sunset experience. With delicate detailing and divine visual presentation, the food at Omikron is simply magnificent. Its rich, super-indulgent buffet taps into Greek and Mediterranean flavours with a creative spin. Make sure to leave enough space for the truly Instagrammable desserts. The spaciousness of the stunning dining area is emphasised by its soaring ceilings and seamless connections to the captivating outdoor oasis. Textural interest is created by shredded rattan that lines the ceiling. Views that extend to the sea are further amplified in the dining area that features open walls. Diners are shaded by full-height bamboo screens.
A chilled-out a la carte restaurant, Cocoon RestoBar is set by the pool and features a casually stylish decor. Oozing a laid-back vibe, the floor is covered in sand and the toes-in-the-sand policy creates a tropical and relaxed ambience. From light bites and snacks – including sushi – to a full lunch, there is something for everyone. Do not miss the famous frozen margaritas. It also serves sweets and ice cream, fresh juice, coffee, wine and cocktails all day and evening.
The O Bar is a classic bar with a twist, offering a range of cocktails that infuse Mediterranean herbs and spices.
Flow’s spin-off, the F Bar, is part elegant, part quirky bar that approaches the art of drinking in a playful, imaginative way. It has an impressive wine list and signature cocktails.

The sprawling lagoon-like pool is the glittering centrepiece of the hotel. There is a swim-up bar in the middle.
Plenty of sun loungers, positioned so they appear to skim the water’s surface, are set around the main pool and its many water features. On the terraces and outdoor spaces, statement pieces of lounge furniture overlook the resort’s waterways and the sea, inviting guests to sit back and take in the island from a unique perspective.

Olea offers plenty of activities at the hotel, or venture farther afield for a myriad of activities and explore the beautiful surroundings of Zakynthos or Zante.
Given the juxtaposition of this idyllic island’s craggy, mountainous interior, with its lush green countryside, thick pine-forested hills that lead to the many picturesque beaches and clusters of sandy coves with crystal blue waters, it is no secret as to why Zante is consistently voted one of Greece’s top destinations.

Wander round the picturesque towns and villages in Zakynthos, enjoying traditional Greek Island charm.
