In the last century, there was a significant increase in the use of technology that relies on electricity and generates electromagnetic fields (EMF). The trend is set to continue with new and innovative technologies. We can not and would not want to stop this development; technology has contributed significantly to improving our lives, and is a key driver of economic and social progress that contributes to our overall quality of life. But what is EMF? Should I be worried about electromagnetic radiation, and which are the best EMF protection products?
Research show that artificial, man-made EMF may negatively impact human health and well-being. They interfere with our stress levels, immune system, and sleep patterns, among other things.

We had the opportunity to interview Michel Aerts, the international commercial director at Comosystems. During our conversation, we delved into Comosystems’ CMO technology and discussed everything you need to know about EMF.
WHAT ARE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS
WHAT ARE EMFs, AND ARE THEY SAFE. Electromagnetic fields refer to the propagation of a change in space due to the movement of electrically charged particles, such as electrons. This periodic change in space consists of a magnetic field and an electric field that propagate together, hence the name “electromagnetic” field.
Every living and non-living thing you come in contact with has its own electromagnetic field, including humans as well as inanimate objects like buildings and rocks.
When charged particles are moving (and they always are), they produce magnetic fields.
A common way to group electromagnetic fields is into ionising and non-ionising electromagnetic fields. The difference is that ionizing radiation carries enough energy to pull electrons out of their atomic orbit, causing changes in materials. Non-ionising EMFs, on the other hand, can not break chemical bonds, but they can create heating effects.
Both ionising and non-ionising electromagnetic fields include:
- Natural sources of EMFs such as the Earth’s magnetic field or the sun
- Man-made sources of EMFs such as electromagnetic radiation from electric blankets, power lines, wiring, appliances, computers, everything wireless (including Bluetooth, AirPods, WiFi), cell towers, smart meters, smartphones and smartwatches.
The natural EMFs that have always been around are considered safe, but the surge in man-made electromagnetic fields poses concerns. The world has far more EMFs than it had only ten years ago, mainly due to the increased use of wireless technology. For example, in many urban areas, the level of electromagnetic radiation generated by technology is over one billion times greater than the natural EMFs that are essential for life.
As this shift happened rather recently and in a relatively short period, we still need to fully understand the potential long-term effects of exposure to EMF.
WHAT ARE THE SOURCES OF EMF. The fastest-growing source of exposure to electromagnetic fields is communications, particularly cell phones and mobile telephony. Other areas where EMFs are used extensively include the electricity supply grid and medical devices like X-ray imaging machines and CT scans. Power stations send electricity through overhead and underground cables and substations to our cities, factories and homes – a vital network of flowing electric current that generates EMFs all around us.
On a personal level, common sources of man-made EMFs include:

- wireless (Wi-Fi) routers

DO I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS. More research is needed in this field to gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of being exposed to EMFs.
However, in January 2019, over 250 scientists from around the world submitted a petition* (revised from the initial one introduced in 2015) asking for greater protection against EMF radiation in the environment.

WHY EMFs ARE HARMFUL. There is scientific evidence to suggest that exposure to EMF suppresses the effects of the body’s antioxidants, causing an imbalance between the production of harmful molecules called reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the body’s ability to neutralise them using antioxidants that can lead to damaging oxidative processes within our cells. ROS molecules play an important role in the progression of inflammatory disorders.
Dr. Martin Pall, professor emeritus of biochemistry and basic medical sciences at Washington State University, has suggested that non-ionising radiation triggers processes on a cellular level resulting in oxidative stress. Tissues at greatest risk include the brain, the nervous system, the retina and the SA Node, which is the ‘natural pacemaker’ of the heart.
WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF EMFs ON OUR CELLS AND BODIES. EMF, and in particular the extremely low frequency radiation, impact the human health in a myriad of subtle ways, and studies show that, over time, the biological effects we just talked about are linked to numerous diseases and our overall well-being.
DISEASES – studies show exposure to electromagnetic fields is linked to numerous diseases, including cancer risk, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease and chronic fatigue.
FERTILITY – there are several studies and scientific research on how EMF impact reproductive health
- Decrease in reproductive capacity
- Effect of mobile phones on sperm quality
- Increase in miscarriages after exposure to EMF
- Adverse Effects of Wi-Fi Radiation on the male reproductive system

SLEEP DISORDER – quality sleep is crucial for overall well-being as it plays a significant role in maintaining physical health, cognitive function and emotional regulation. It is one of the best predictors of healthy ageing.
A study conducted in 2019 concluded that daily EMF exposure reduces sleep quality and makes people more likely to be depressed.
Additionally, another study showed that EMF exposure may reduce levels of melatonin, a hormone responsible for inducing sleep and promoting the most regenerative stages of rest.
IMMUNE SYSTEM – exposure to electromagnetic fields can potentially function as an immunosuppressive agent, rendering the immune system incapable of defending against toxins and other harmful agents. Consequently, this may increase susceptibility to bacterial and viral infections, mould growth, and exposure to pesticides and other chemicals.
BRAIN AND NERVOUS SYSTEM – multiple studies have found that continuous oxidative stress from EMF exposure could cause memory issues and unclear thinking over time and may even contribute to dementia.

WHAT CAN I DO TO REDUCE THE EXPOSURE TO EMFs. If you live in an urban area and are using modern technology in any shape or form, reducing direct exposure to electromagnetic fields is impossible, but there are ways to protect yourself from over-exposure.

In order to ensure that the public was not misled, the French Health Products Safety Agency (AFSSAPS), a monitoring and safety agency, conducted a study on Comosystems’ products. HOW DOES IT WORK
YOU MENTIONED THAT CMO CANCELS OUT THE HARMFUL RADIATION ON A BIOLOGICAL LEVEL, MAKING THEM HARMLESS TO OUR CELLS, BUT HOW DOES IT WORK. Our sensibility to external input is determined in our cells at the level of ion channel sensors. These channels play a crucial role in cell signalling by allowing ions to enter or exit the cell in response to various stimuli such as sounds, heat and also electromagnetic fields.
Ion channel sensors operate in a non-linear mode and are therefore good amplifiers using the phenomenon called “stochastic resonance”. When cells are exposed to hyperweak external stimuli, stochastic resonance allows these cells to “hear” these signals and identify the stimuli as beneficial or harmful. As examples, I would like to highlight the following two studies:
We conducted experiments in collaboration with Prof. Bastide from the faculty of Montpellier. We exposed mice to GSM cell phones, and the results showed a very marked depression of the immune system; antibodies and stress response hormones dropped very markedly during exposure without CMO. The same team demonstrated a significant reduction in the production of hippocampal neurons. This may be a sign of progression to neurodegenerative diseases. These two malfunctions were very clearly compensated for by the presence of the CMO near the mice.
Another significant study was done by Prof. Reba Goodman and Prof. Martin Blank at the Department of Pathology at Columbia University in New York. The study was analysing cellular stress: to quantify the level of stress in cells, there are known biomarkers: two of them are HSP70 (a heat shock protein that helps our cells stay healthy under stressful situations) and S.R.E (Serum Response Element).
The study clearly demonstrated a significant increase in cellular stress when exposed to EMF and also confirms that the CMO completely compensated for this cellular stress. This study has been published in the International Journal of Cellular Biochemistry.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY INSIDE THE CMO. Each CMO device is made of aluminium, and inside is a small tube (in the case of the cones, it is a sphere) that contains an electromagnetically charged saline solution. This solution has the specific qualities of structured water, similar to the water of your cells.

DOES THE CMO HAVE AN INFLUENCE ON THE QUALITY OF TRANSMISSION OR RECEPTION OF MY DEVICES (telephone, wi-fi network …). No, CMO does not in any way affect the functionality of any devices as it only works on a biological level. The intensity of the signal emitted by the CMO is hyper-weak (approximately a million times weaker than the intensity of the signal emitted by a mobile phone).
I USED AN EMF METER TO TEST YOUR PRODUCT, AND IT IS NOT LOWERING THE INTENSITY OF THE EM FIELDS: WHY. Our technology does not interact with your communication devices. Still, it interacts with your body and your cells: so, it is normal that the CMO does not change the intensity of the waves: the intensity is not the most important factor; what is important is the very sensitive level of receptivity of your body’s cells.
HOW DO I KNOW IT IS WORKING — I RECEIVED MY CMO, BUT I DO NOT FEEL ANY DIFFERENT. Everyone is exposed to EMFs and impacted at a biological level, whether you feel it or not.
