The eternally contemporary Lyngby Vase is a must-have

A design icon

The elegant Lyngby vase presents a stylish way to display flowers through its sculptural expression along with a distinctly pared-down character when not in use. Showcasing timeless perfectionism, clean, functional lines and stunning simplicity, it is imbued with sensibility, beauty and tactility.

Originally designed in 1936, the Lyngby vase is one of Danish porcelain’s most emblematic pieces with its streamlined, functional form.

When it premiered in the 1930s, the vase challenged the prevailing porcelain aesthetic of the time, which relied heavily on ornamental decoration. It looked instead to the functionalist Bauhaus movement in Germany, where the spotlight was on form and functionality, not just embellishment. The result is a stunning celebration of form and function underscored by the illustrious design history of its home, Denmark.

Made of high-quality porcelain with a gently grooved surface and oblong shape, the streamlined, functional vase was designed to create a strong sculptural effect with a quiet presence. The overall minimal nature of the vase means that it is perfect in any timeless interior setting.

The Danish Porcelain Manufactory – Lyngby Porcelæn manufactured the classic, original Lyngby vase from 1936 until the factory in Lyngby closed in 1969. In 2012, the Danish Porcelain Manufactory – Lyngby Porcelæn decided to relaunch the Lyngby vase and other iconic designs, which are now recreated with the utmost care and respect for the design heritage.

The majority of the elements are hand-made, so each vase tells a unique story. Each Lyngby vase’s authenticity is guaranteed by a beautiful hand-stamped monogram on the base, signifying a design icon that can be passed on for generations.

The signature vase continues to be an iconic collector’s item, and it is easy to see why. The slender and unpretentious column shape suits any home – whether the vase is used as a decorative object or when it allows any flower or bouquet to unfold in the most beautiful way.

As an extension of the Lyngby legacy, the vase family has grown in both colours and material choices. Originally made of porcelain, the vase is now also available in glass.

A gorgeous array of colours – such as classic white, glamorous black, understated grey, timeless blue, light pink, dazzling gold and more – adds to the vase’s versatility. An arrangement with various sizes – ranging from six centimetres to 38 centimetres – creates a stunning, harmonious, and graphic expression, whether one combines vases with the same or different colours.

This gorgeous vase is a timeless statement of beauty, simplicity, and functionality – a true design classic and stylish showpiece.
