Dominique Crenn is the Co-owner and Chef of the 3-Michelin-starred restaurant Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, where artistry is at the forefront, the cuisine is a craft, and the community is an inspiration. “Atelier” can be defined as a workshop or studio, a concept that drives Chef Crenn’s modern vision for fine French cuisine. Her highly distinctive French heritage and imaginative gastronomic flair in the kitchen at Atelier Crenn clearly reflect her unique life story.
Atelier Crenn is a homage to her father, Allain, with his paintings hung upon the walls. Each guest is greeted with a poem, each line symbolizing a presentation in the meal. The menu is focused on seafood and vegetables, drawing from the memories of her mother’s garden in Brittany through the lens of California products and produce.
Atelier Crenn achieved its first Michelin Star in October 2011, nine months after the restaurant’s opening. Crenn made history again in the following year when Atelier Crenn received its second Michelin Star, becoming the first female chef in the US to receive this honour. In November 2018, Crenn beat her own record and became the first female chef in the US to receive three Michelin Stars.
